What Private, Unlisted, and Public mean on ArtSpace, what a share link is, and how visibility relates to a Space's Draft or Published status.

What visibility controls

Visibility decides who can see a Space. Every Space has one of three visibility settings, and you can change it at any time. Visibility is separate from whether a Space is finished — that is its Draft or Published status, covered below.

Visitors do not need an ArtSpace account to view a Public or shared Space. Anyone can simply open and explore it.

The three visibility levels

  • Private — only you can see it (or, for an org-owned Space, the organization's managers). Use this while a Space is in progress or for work you're not ready to share.
  • Unlisted — anyone with the share link can view it, but it is not listed anywhere public. Good for previews, clients, and reviewers you want to reach without making the Space open to everyone.
  • Public — open to everyone and listed in Explore and search, so people can discover it on ArtSpace.

Share links

An Unlisted Space has a share link — a special address you can copy and send to anyone you want to give access to. Because the link itself grants access, treat it like a key: anyone who has it can view the Space.

If a link has been shared too widely or you simply want to cut off old access, you can regenerate the share link. Regenerating creates a new link and invalidates the old one, so previously shared links stop working.

Regenerating a share link cannot be undone — old links are permanently invalidated. Anyone who still needs access will need the new link.

How visibility relates to Draft and Published

Visibility and status are two independent settings that work together. Status (Draft or Published) describes whether a Space is finished; visibility (Private, Unlisted, Public) describes who can see it.

  • A Space stays a Draft until you publish it, regardless of its visibility.
  • Publishing a Space does not automatically make it Public, and choosing Public does not automatically publish it.
  • For a Space to be broadly discoverable in Explore and search, it generally needs to be both Published and Public.
